|||||Do They Know It's Hallowe'en? [I don't know why, don't ask.]||]|
There's this girl on my flist who I met on LJ around a year ago. We're twins, I swear. Same taste in everything, from music to TV to clothes to Breoadway shows to food to anti-assimilation culture. It's kinda scary. And it's one of those things where I feel like I've known her forever, even if we'd never met. She goes to college in Manhattan [with Leah!]
My family stayed in New York this weekend for my father's birthday [ok, it was pretty amazing...3 shows and a concert in 2 days...but it's another story] and we decided that, since I was staying 20 minutes from where she was, we were finally going to meet up for coffee.
I was excited about it all week. When we finally met, it was great, but nothing like I expected. We were both too shy, too awkward, and in the hour or so we were there, it got almost...uncomfortable. As happy as we were we'd finally met, it was slightly dissapointing, too. And now we're back to talking online like we always have.
Yet the June show was fabulous, despite how shy I am and that we all hadn't ever met before. The wonderful insanity of the AIM chats somehow easily translated into real life. You all somehow, for that day, made me forget I was shy and just enjoy being there [ok, I might have seemed quiet compared to all of you, but it was REALLY outgoing for my usual silence]. And I'd only been talking with y'all for 4 months or so. I even still see Casey [0whataworld] every month or so, on our own, and there's never awkwardness or silence or a break in the fun.
So that, my dear Baptists, is the reason I love you all, and the reason I'm going to grovel my ass off in hopes of being able to come to at least Friday night & Saturday morning of our reunion this spring =D
That being said, we need a chat soon. It's been over a month, and I have 2 term papers I need to be distracted from writing.
